An extensive literature review was performed regarding the chronology of events surrounding macular hole repair. Controversial issues such as who was the first to publish macular hole repair, macular hole grading, when to operate, the use of OCT, ERM peeling, ILM peeling, ICG, face down posturing duration and complications were categorized chronologically by topic in a  user friendly bibliography. The presentation will set the record straight regarding the evolution of macular hole repair.
