The Vitreous: Why and how to get it off?
16. The posterior vitreous cortex –
a cause for the develoment of AMD?
Peter Kroll (Marburg)
Posterior vitreous cortex is recognized as a causative agent in more and more vitreoretinal diseases.
Relating to other vitreoretinal diseases, it can be shown, that a tight posterior vitreous can be
the cause of AMD.
Anti-VEGF and Triamcinolon are good devices for treatment of AMD, however, the causative
treatment must be the enzymatic dissection of the posterior vitreous cortex.
