Verteporfin Therapy for Exudative AMD: Does Size Matter?

Paul Griggs (Seattle)

Objective: To determine the effect of initial lesion size on treatment outcome following verteporfin therapy for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization of various compositions
in exudative age-related macular degeneration.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients enrolled in the TAP (Treatment of Age- Related Macular Degeneration With Photodynamic Therapy) and VIP (Verteporfin in Photodynamic Therapy) study groups was performed to determine the effect of initial lesion size and composition on visual acuity outcomes following verteporfin therapy.
Results: To be presented.
Conclusion: Initial lesion size has a statistically significant effect on visual acuity outcome following verteporfin therapy in exudative age-related macular for one or more lesion compositions.
