Michel Eid Farah, R. E. Andrade, C. Muccioli, R. Belfort Jr. (Sao Paulo)

The potential benefits of OCT to identify response to PDT as well in the follow up and in the decision making process of retreatments is evaluated in a consecutive interventional non-comparative series of subfoveal CNV due to AMD or pathologic myopia.
Cases with questionable leakeage undergo OCT to guide retreatment decisions. Treatment is not indicated when subretinal fibrosis or retinal atrophic changes are predominant. PDT with verteporfin is performed if there is significant subretinal fluid or retinal edema. After therapy OCT discloses decrease or resolution of persistent subretinal fluid or retinal edema and may be useful for the retreatment decision process.
