Endoscopic PEELS
S. Natarajan, F.H.J.
Koch (Mumbai/Frankfurt/M.)
Purpose: To present a new treatment modality for Wet Age Related Macular Degeneration
(ARMD): The Endoscopic Pigment Epithelial Endoscopic Laser Surgery
(PEELS) surgery.
Methods: A 60 years old lady presented with WET ARMD
with Retino Choroidal Anastomosis (RCA) in left eye and disciform scar
post PDT and TTT in right eye. In view of failure of medical treatment
in right eye, left eye underwent Endoscopic PEELS.
Results: Post surgery 3months FFA & ICG shows
healed Choroidal Neovascular Membrane (CNVM). Visual Acuity was improved
from 6/60 to 6/24.
Conclusion: PEELS is one of the alternative for WET
ARMD with RCA specially when associated with RCA and where chances of
success of PDT & TTT laser are less.
