VITREOUS SURGERY FOR ACCIDENTAL INJECTIONS OF DEPOMEDROL INTO THE EYE

The authors present a case of accidental intraocular injection of depo- steroids into both eyes of one patient. To remove the steroid pars plana vitrectomy was performed on both eyes during the first twenty four hours after injection. Despite that one eye was lost and another eye resulted in pathologic changes of the macula and final visual acuity 3/50. Results achieved in a similar case in the past and known from the literature are discussed.
