Management of PVR has improved tremendously within the last years. There is little to read in literature how this refinements could be achieved. Surgical strategies, indication for retinotomy and visual restoration will be defined. Drugs influencing cell proliferation or the extracellular matrix are tested in clinical studies and their clinical relevance will be discussed
